Citizen Second Class - League for Social Justice booklet
This is a copy of a booklet compiling survey results on African-Americans in the local area done by St. Ambrose College students as an assignment for instructor Father William O'Connor. A door to door survey done in 1947 was the source of the information. The booklet was published and made available to the public in November 1951.

This ledger dates from 18 September 1899 - 15 June 1913 and contains the annual school census of sub-districts 1 though 7 of Cleona Township, Scott County, Iowa. Entries include names of children that are of school age, ages, sex, parents or guardians names.
The volume is in poor physical condition with brittle pages, some of which have chipped but handwriting is clearly readable.

About the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center:
The Special Collections Department of the Davenport Public Library was established in 1982. In November of 1999, the newly renovated department opened to better serve its community and was renamed the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center. The Center acquires, arranges, describes, preserves, and makes available local history and genealogical materials concentrating on those pertaining to Davenport, Scott County, and Eastern Iowa.
