This collection contains architectural design drawings by Walter E. Bort, Clinton Iowa architect. Design drawings for Bort's own residence, Schick residence, and others in Davenport and Scott County [ca 1918/1950.]

This collection contains minutes from West View Grange meetings beginning 27Jan1908-1980. There are four minute books the earliest being handwritte and 1950's typed.
Booklet by author R. W. Smith Newton No. 1: The Second Working Grange in the United States and the First in Iowa and The Early Grange Movement in Some Iowa Counties contains information about the Grange in Muscatine County, Iowa and good historical background information.

The chain letter is an example of a World War II era scheme pretending to be for the purpose of increasing sales of Defense Stamps. The Post Office and Treasury Department spoke out against the scam. This particular letter was written by Lenora Davidson of 515 Kirkwood Boulevard, Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Leona Davidson.

About the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center:
The Special Collections Department of the Davenport Public Library was established in 1982. In November of 1999, the newly renovated department opened to better serve its community and was renamed the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center. The Center acquires, arranges, describes, preserves, and makes available local history and genealogical materials concentrating on those pertaining to Davenport, Scott County, and Eastern Iowa.
