Scope and Contents

All photographs and negatives from folder show Davenport Public Library facilities and resources from approximately 1960-1980. They were from a folder labeled "Q-C Times Newspaper Library Exhibit-Black and White Photos". One small print of a woman standing in front of the bookmobile is labeled "Jan Walker". Several prints are of the artist's rendering of library interiors and furnishings - by Wingate. The large image of the interior library is taken from the second floor looking down and is labed "Brent Hanson Photo". The contact sheet shows images of local author Julie Jensen, several gentlemen, Annie Wittenmyer interiors and an exterior, and the bookmobile.

About the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center:

The Special Collections Department of the Davenport Public Library was established in 1982. In November of 1999, the newly renovated department opened to better serve its community and was renamed the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center. The Center acquires, arranges, describes, preserves, and makes available local history and genealogical materials concentrating on those pertaining to Davenport, Scott County, and Eastern Iowa.
